L’Astrance gallery added

No trip to Paris would be complete without dinner in at least one Michelin-starred restaurant. On our last trip, we visited two: L'Astrance and Yam'Tcha. Both were fantastic and I have photos from Astrance to share today. Situated just across the Seine from the Eiffel Tower, Astrance's location could not be more idyllic. The creative, seven-course, modern-French tasting menu was elegantly presented and delicious. There were some unique standouts like a mushroom, foie gras, apple tart and jasmine...

Streets of Paris gallery added

After departing Barcelona, the next stop on our May 2013 around-the-world adventure took Jon and me back to one of our favorite European cities: Paris. The weather was cool and rainy but that didn't keep us from exploring whenever possible. Having already seen many of the typical Paris tourist destinations, we decided to relax and "live-like-a-local" more this time around. As a result, many of the photos are not your typical Paris travel photos, but rather urban landscapes depicting...

Tickets gallery added

We ate a lot of great food in Barcelona without having to try too hard, but one major victory was scoring a reservation at the famed Adrià brothers’ Tickets restaurant. A tapas bar follow-up to the world-famous elBulli, Tickets felt casual and fun; the food was uniquely presented and delicious. We had a great seat at the counter in front of the kitchen which allowed us to take in all the action. I hope you enjoy...

Barcelona gallery added

It was May of last year when Jon and I set off on our around-the-world journey to Barcelona, Paris, and Bangkok. While I continue to work editing the gigabytes of photos I brought home, I’m happy, finally, to be able to share some of them with you! I’ve just uploaded a gallery of photos featuring my take on Barcelona’s unique architecture that I hope you’ll like. In addition to the distinctive structures, we also enjoyed Barcelona’s...

Kauai gallery added

It’s been a while since I’ve had any new image galleries, but I’m happy to report that photos taken this September in Kauai have made their way online! I have a backlog of photos still to edit from an around-the-world trip to Barcelona, Paris, and Bangkok taken this summer, but I thought it would be quick to get the Kauai gallery up first. This was a short trip, mostly spent lounging by the pool, but I did...

Atelier Crenn gallery added

I posted photos from Jon's and my fifth anniversary dinner today in the Atelier Crenn gallery! The restaurant, located in the Marina district of San Francisco, is owned and run by Chef Dominique Crenn. Her tasting menu is a poem, where each line of the poem represents a different course. The food was delicious and uniquely presented, sometimes disguised as things one might find in the forest. Atelier Crenn earned two Michelin stars in the...

The Restaurant at Meadowood gallery added

Photos from Jon's birthday dinner last September were added in The Restaurant at Meadowood gallery today! Meadowood, located in the Napa Valley in St. Helena, is only the second Bay Area restaurant to earn three Michelin stars, along with The French Laundry. The meal, prepared by Chef Christopher Kostow, was worth every one of those stars. From hand-written birthday cards to delicious, unique dishes and presentations, the evening was perfect. Check out the photos of...

Flying to Asia gallery added

One more set of images from our 2012 trip to Asia was added today in the Flying to Asia gallery! On this trip, the destinations were only part of the story, so much so, that I though the flights themselves deserved their own gallery. We flew Singapore Airlines First Class from San Francisco to Singapore via Hong Kong; ANA Business Class on the shorter 4-hour flights from Hong Kong to Tokyo; and Cathay Pacific First Class on...

Hong Kong Layovers gallery added

The fourth and final set of destination images from our 2012 Asia was added to the Hong Kong Layovers gallery today! Jon and I spent just over 48 hours in Hong Kong, but on three separate layovers while hopping over Asia. We did a surprising amount in that time! We visited Victoria Peak, had dim sum at Lung King Heen, enjoyed xiao long bao at Din Tai Fung (twice!), took a ferry ride to Central, and tried...

Tokyo gallery added

I added the third set of photos from our 2012 Asia trip today in the Tokyo gallery! This gallery features photos from our walks around Shinjuku, Ginza, and Asakusa, as well as meals at Sushi Kanesaka and Tempura Kondo. I hope you like them. Next gallery will be photos from our stopovers in Hong Kong.
