Programming Intern
Datatel Inc., Fairfax, Virginia
Summer 2000

· After a two week training program in Datatel's in-house programming language and software, became a productive member of the Accounts Receivable / Cash Receipts Enhancements Programming Team. Wrote code included in the next revision of Datatel’s Colleague product.
· Independently determined solutions to problems as assigned; found and fixed un-reported bugs. Modified content of front end screens; wrote and modified subroutines.


Researcher Intern
NASA, Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Maryland
Summer 1999

· One of 25 chosen from 90 applicants to participate in the 10 week Visiting Student Enrichment Program.
· Collaborated with scientists and engineers of the recently formed Technology Scanning and Assessment Committee. Proposed the type of information and its organization to be included in technology bulletins (i.e. summary reports on various computer languages and technologies useful to the scientific community).
· Independently researched and produced the first five bulletins, now used as models for further development of the program.


Web Developer

· Complete redesign of department web site. Received input from Art Department faculty and students in order that the site may convey the “feel” of being an art student at Wittenberg.

· Proposed an improved and consistent design of old departmental web site and performed regular updates to maintain up-to-date information on the new site.


Development of DNA String Search Program

Fall 1999

· Independently developed a fast Windows GUI application to search for a sub-string (with wildcards, etc.) within an inputted DNA string of up to 64,000 characters.
· Wittenberg Biology and Computer Science Departments are currently using the program in their classes.


Retail Artist

Summers 1996-1998

· Individually contributed about 30 total new T-shirt and sweatshirt designs for screen-print or embroidery to be sold on garments in B-Wear retail stores.
· At least five designs made the “best-seller” list and were reproduced in following years.
